Handy Medical Tips for the Everyday Person from a GP
Darren Profile - Long

Dr. Darren Ng (MBBS, FRACGP, DCH, SCOPE)

Never stop learning. Because Life never stops teaching.

If you are a regular person - a mum, a dad, work in an office or a warehouse, love sports, or watching Desparate Housewives - then you've come to the right place! That is, assuming you were looking for handy health tips.

If you find yourself confused with the immense amount of medical information on Dr. Google, you're not alone. I do too! That's the reason I started this blog, to share with you some health advice that happens in the GP clinic.

The kinds of things I'll share with you are not designed to be thorough medical advice about complex issues that really should be done with your doctor. Instead, I will aim to write about simple topics that you can try out yourself at home and in your own time to keep you feeling good. It is based on many of the common presentations I encounter in General Practice everyday.

MY STORY

I'm a General Practitioner, or Family Doctor. I am a husband and father to 2 gorgeous boys (and one on the way).

Adelaide born and bred, I studied Medicine at the University of Adelaide (MBBS) and subsequently specialised in General Practice, gaining my Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of GPs (FRACGP). I have interests in Obesity Mangement and Weight Loss (SCOPE, Accredited Optifast Health Practitioner), Paediatrics (DCH), along with Sports Medicine and Sexual Health.

In my younger days, I played Professional Basketball for the Adelaide 36ers in the Australian NBL from 2002-2012 and was team doctor for 2 years, until life became too busy! You can read more about me here on wikipedia

I still enjoying playing and watching basketball, spending time with my kids, teaching and learning about them.

I have been fortunate to have experienced many things in my careers, and I hope to share some of them with you!
